now the halal food is on campus!

the halal dishes will be mark by the letter (H)

congratulation to adam the former president of international society (who is malaysian)

and dina the midle east exco who work on this

hanya Allah dapat membalas jasa kalian.

sesungguhnya sumbangan ini amatlah besar buat kami semua

so last few days there was a celebration of this opening halal food.

it is other way to show to the university that there is a need in providing halal food in campus.

we bought ticket 5.50 pound

and there's alot of food that night.

one of them is turkey roast.

before this i was just like "teringin nye nk makan" tapi x halal kan

but now,no worries!u just need Pound ;p

by the way back to that night

i was i bit shocked because the dining was full!

meaning there's a lot of muslims in this university!

the number may just increasing year by year..

(but i bet it is not as many as in other place like manchester,leeds,birmingham etc)

now the islamic society is trying to get bigger prayer room.

as for now we only have a very very small prayer room and it is mix for brothers and sisters.

it is approx 2m x 5m area..

no ablution room what so ever.

tapi saya sangat2 bersyukur.

at least we have one.

if not tergapai2 jugak nk solat.

eventhough it is not a proper one.

if it is,we can do big jamaah etc

actually the prayer room is open for all religious.

but so far no other religious make use of it.(thank God)

hopefully they manage to get bigger room at least.insyaAllah

it is satay night organised by york malaysian society association(YMSA)

its will be yearly big event for YMSA i guess

nak komen pasal food one by one ke?x payah la kan....huhu...yang penting roti jala is superb..sedap...

unfortunately the satay picture is not here...x sempat snap picture da...da licin

the food were prepared by all of the comitee...i am not in the comitee anymore but we(my housemates) cook bubur kacang...it was awesome!haha..perasan...

the guests are around 80 people...thats a lot!congratulation to all of them

and i think its half malaysia+bruneian and half others

not bad at all i guess

besepah betul manusia ni makan..buruk kan..nila perangai budak2 obesi...sama je...tp sbb the comitee lupe beli plastik sampah kot...thats why jadi camtu

overall it was a good event....promote malaysian food to others and let asian people itself fulfill their craving kan...

congratulations to all of the comitee members

BUT

please improve next year..there's a lot to improve...especially jam malaysia ni...haih..

but lets not talk about this here...

fiesta is over!we had our international weeks last week!
malaysian york menang besar jgkla!

3rd place for cultural performance(first time masuk)
2nd place for food competition

yg first place semua kazakhstan sapu..except fot cultural performance japan no 1 and kazakhstan no 2

we really had so much fun!n it was so tiring!

but im proud to bring Malaysia to the world..

at least people in Britain know that Malaysia exist!!

YMSA satay night

in week 5(next week la!) nnt ade satay night!cool...one of the YMSA big event....

mm we(me azira n farhana) kna msak bihun goreng n desert on that night...

im thinking of buat bubur n buat masak sagu with gula merah je...sng je kn...

pastu nnt ade gotong royong cucuk satay la...mau smpi lewat mlm ni....hopefully many people will turn up that night....the capacity is 70people...ikut perancangan...hopefully it will goes fine...

thinking of buat pertnding teh tarik...tp nnt mst messy tpt tu...so kna pikir blk..then a few people da ade bwk gasing...i bought too!from kedai arumugam!hoho....60sen saja 1....tp bwk 2 saje....blh buat game gasing...tp members sndr pn xrti maen...cmne nk wt game tnjk demo...haha....

Hope that everyone had a good week. It was nice to see many people turn up for the first YMSA social, thank you very much for that. As promised, we will furnish you with information for upcoming events.

-Sate Night-

Date: Saturday, 15^th November, 2008 (Week 5)

Venue: Holmesfield (Indoors, near Halifax football field)

Time: 5pm-9pm

Entry: Members £3, Non-Members £5

There will be lots of food such as Sate, fried rice, fried noodles, snacks, etc. Vegetarian food is also available. Tickets can be bought via the following means:

Only 70 tickets will be available for sale, and we can assure you that there will be lots of food for everyone, as well as some fun and games. Tickets sales start now through our agents and email, or you can come meet us at the Roger Kirk Centre. Hope to see you there! J

-Elections-

YMSA elections are coming up in week 6, and all members are encouraged to try out. Being in the committee is lots of fun; you get to plan and organise events, as well as contribute to the members of the society. A strong bond exists between the committee members, and the people you work with may become your good friends for life. Posts up for nominations are:

President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, 2 Welfare Officers, Press Publicity and Public Relations Officer, 2 Events and Activities Officer.

If you are interested in running, drop us a line at malaysian@yusu.org or speak to any of the committee members. More details will follow through email, including exact dates for nominations and elections, as well as detailed primer on posts in the YMSA.

-Sports-

We have regular futsal sessions at the sports centre, usually every Saturday, but if court is fully booked we have it on Sunday instead. If you wish to be in the futsal mailing list and be constantly updated of futsal sessions you can email malaysian@yusu.org. We will be starting regular badminton sessions as well really soon so if you wish to be on the badminton mailing list do email us.

p.s. We do have a facebook group (York Malaysian Students Association). We send out invitations but we sometimes miss out on some members, and you may have not be invited yet. In which case, you are very welcome to join the group! There are pictures and event updates there.

YMSA welcoming paty

on week 2 of the new term we York Malaysian Society Association organised a welcome party for the new freshers who has joined YMSA...and for those who join the society for this academic year as well...we the old comitte prepared a few dishes...we ve got halal pizza from efes and a few other snackes....

the event was just to give opportunity to malaysian n for those who interested with malaysia mingle around n get toknow each other...so here,new people can meet the other malaysian...at least they know that there are society which they can turn up if they have any problem and they can feel like back home in malaysia sometimes....gossip2...talk about politics,economy,teh tarik,nasi lemak n so on...

the good news is we do have a few Bruneian and kazakhs pakistanis and a few others who join us....
